Curriculum Vitae 
Andrej Zupan was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He graduated from the Ljubljana Music Academy in 1994 and finished a postgraduate specialisation a year later. In 1985, he won the title of Yugoslav Youth Musician of the Year and represented the country at the Eurovision concert in Madrid. In 1995, he became a member of the Mediterranean Youth Symphony Orchestra, a French orchestra bringing together the best young Mediterranean musicians, and toured Europe and Africa. As a soloist, he has performed extensively in Slovenia, the Balkan states and the EU. At 21, he was appointed solo clarinettist of the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana, where he played till 2003. He has performed numerous important Slovenian and foreign clarinet works and recorded most of them for the archives of the Slovenian Radio and Television and the ORF. As a soloist, he has played with numerous orchestras: the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovenian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Big Band RTV Slovenia. He has also performed for the Spanish Royal Family in Madrid and at the royal court in Monaco, where he attended a reception given by Prince Rainier’s family. In Morocco, he was received by the highest State representatives, and in France, attended a reception given by the Minister of Culture. In 2006 he was a guest of famous Oxford University in England. He is also active in the area of chamber music. He has taken part in numerous chamber concerts in Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, Macedonia, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium and the Czech Republic, accompanied by numerous pianists: Hinko Haas (Slovenia), Vlasta Doležal Rus (Slovenia), Blaž Pucihar (Slovenia), Darja Mlakar (Slovenia), Velislava Palačorova (Bulgaria), Karl Baumann (Austria) and Enrique Garcia Asensi (Spain).
